We hold the usual Ante-natal, Child Health Surveillance and Minor Surgery Clinics, with our two part-time Practice Nurses running the Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, Hypertension Clinics and CHD clinics.

Full contraceptive services are offered. We have an established in house Counselling service available that is provided by the Swindon Psychology Service. This service has won national awards for its innovative approach to psychology and counselling issues.

A Physiotherapy Clinic is held twice weekly and this has proved an invaluable addition to the services offered here at Great Western Surgery.

One partner practices acupuncture and was involved in a pilot project for the inclusion of alternative therapies in General Practice, receiving referrals for acupuncture treatment from other practices in the area. This pilot project has now ceased due to funding changes but obviously our own patients still have access to this alternative therapy.

Our practice also has an interest in Occupational Health and we currently look after a number of companies in the Swindon area.

Test Results

The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. We will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

The provision of baby clinics at Great Western Surgery will cease at the end of September 2010.

The Practice offer our patients dedicated appointments for the purpose of Cervical Cytology Screening.  As well as offering these appointments as part of our Nurses routine appointment schedules, we are now offering a dedicated Cytology Clinic which our patients can access, not only for an apppointment, but to discuss the procedures with our Practice Nurse Nicky Goodman.
